This is France's largest and highest national park.
It is said to be Europe's prime high-mountain park due to its exceptional location straddling the Northern and Southern Alps, and is also one of France's major mountaineering regions.
Its richly diverse Alpine fauna and high-altitude flora are a delight for all nature lovers.
