Walking, biking and horse-riding trails

The Isère regional council and local authorities have joined forces to put together a department-wide plan (the PDIPR) involving marking out 5000 km of trails.

The aim of this plan is to provide continuity and perpetuate the department's network of pathways, which in the past were only used by farmers and foresters.
A particular feature of these trails is that, wherever the terrain allows, they are open to different categories of user:

  • * walkers
  • * mountain-bikers
  • * horse-riders

This is why the signposting, which is identical throughout the network, indicates the distance to each destination in kilometres.
If the paths are for walkers only, the total time taken is indicated.

This Isère-wide plan is a means of boosting local tourist development and is aimed at all users, whatever their objective and means of (non-motorised) transport.
These trails take in the department's most beautiful areas as well as its historical and cultural heritage.

Nature is unpredictable. There are a number of rules that must be followed for any mountain activity, even the easiest of family walks.
